NHH in Bergen, Norway, invites applicants for a tenure-track Assistant Professor/Associate Professor position for seven years in Natural Resource and Environmental Economics at the Department of Economics. Bergen is home to more than a thousand marine scientists, and is a globally leading center of expertise on all matters relating to marine resource management and the sea. Bergen is also home to one of the leading climate research centers in Europe. This offers a multitude of opportunities for research and collaboration.

We are looking for an excellent economist with expected completion of PhD no later than date of commencement. In the assessment of applicants, international experience and qualifications will be emphasised. In the event of equivalent qualifications, female applicants will be given preference.

The Department has high ambitions in terms of research where the main research in addition to Natural Resource and Environmental Economics are; Applied Microeconomics, Behavioural Economics, Development Economics, Industrial Organization, International Trade, Labor Economics and Macroeconomics.

We are looking for candidates with background in applied econometrics or applied economic theory interested in economic questions related to natural resources, energy, and the environment. The successful candidate will teach courses related to natural resource or environmental economics.

The new hire will be encouraged to develop an individual research agenda and contribute to the Department's long-term academic development. We offer financial support for research projects, participation in conferences and shorter research stays. The position will involve a competitive teaching load, which also includes some graduate student supervision and administrative duties. Faculty members at NHH are expected to be good teachers. NHH offers the opportunity to participate in a programme for university pedagogy, and candidates hired for tenure-track positions must take one basic module of the programme during the fixed-term period.

The position is based in Bergen.

  • Annual salary of NOK 639 800 – 678 600 (Assistant Professor) or NOK 678 600 – 722 800 (Associate Professor), depending on level of competence/length of service
