As Head of the School of Economics, you will lead on the development and implementation of the School’s strategy by working collaboratively with the senior academic leadership team to develop and inspire others to achieve the highest possible standards of excellence, and to deliver on the Faculty and University objectives.

You will be an experienced strategic leader and an inspirational role model with the tenacity, drive and motivation to progress and implement the School’s vision. Accountable to the Faculty Pro-Vice-Chancellor for all aspects of the performance and running of the School, including resource and budget management, you will be supported by the School’s leadership team and working closely with the Associate Faculty Pro-Vice-Chancellors to develop educational and research capacity and talent within the School.

Emotionally intelligent with people-centred leadership skills and commitment to equality of opportunity for all, you will be a strategic thinker, with effective analytical capability to facilitate conceptual thinking, innovation and creativity. With excellent communication and interpersonal skills, you will engage, motivate and inspire teams to achieve high performance standards and attract leading scholars and collaborators to the School. Using your flexible approach to changing circumstances, you will be able to exercise judgement to make decisions and take appropriate risks in the best interests of the School and the University.

Qualified with PhD in Economics you must have a sustained track-record in publishing internationally excellent, peer-reviewed journal articles, and a proven track record of teaching excellence. You will have demonstrable experience as a senior leader and you will have successfully led and managed teams to achieve high performance standards. You will also be expected to engage in ongoing personal development and undertake original research of international excellence.
