The Department of Economics, Faculty of Liberal Arts & Professional Studies, York University invites highly qualified candidates to apply for a professorial stream tenure-track appointment in Empirical Microeconomics at the Assistant Professor level, to commence July 1, 2022. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. All York University positions are subject to budgetary approval.

A PhD (or a PhD near completion) in Economics is required, with a demonstrated record of excellence, or promise of excellence, in research and in teaching. Applicants should have a clearly articulated program of research and specialize in any area of empirical microeconomics, with an emphasis on development economics and industrial organization. The successful candidate’s research program will contribute to our research strengths and reputation, with the expectation for national and international research leadership.

The successful candidate will be expected to engage in outstanding, innovative, and, as appropriate, externally funded research in Economics at the highest level. Candidates must provide evidence of research excellence or promise of research excellence as demonstrated by an innovative job market paper; a research statement; a record of publications (or forthcoming publications) in highly ranked general interest and field journals, and presentations at major conferences appropriate to their stage of career, as well as strong recommendations from referees of high standing.

The position will involve graduate teaching and supervision, as well as undergraduate teaching and the successful candidate must be suitable for prompt appointment to the Faculty of Graduate Studies. Evidence of excellence or promise of excellence in teaching will be provided through the teaching statement, teaching accomplishments and evaluations appropriate to the stage of career, as well as strong letters of reference. Pedagogical innovations in high priority areas such as experiential education and technology enhanced learning is preferred.
