FULL PROFESSOR of
International Trade Economics and Policy

starting on 1 September 2023 or on a mutually agreed-upon date.

The Geneva Graduate Institute is offering a tenured position in international trade at the level of full professor.

Candidates must hold a PhD in Economics and demonstrate excellence in academic research through completed projects and a promising research agenda, as well as contributions to policy debates.

The successful candidate will teach postgraduate courses in international trade theory and policy. They will be expected to contribute to policy analysis of trade by maintaining a network of policymakers and academic institutions. S∙he will be expected to hold leadership position at the Graduate Institute Centre for Trade and Economic Integration, and mentor junior faculty.

The candidate’s research and policy agenda should cover not only the core principles of globalisation, but also new emerging issues that represent challenges to the multilateral trading system. The Institute welcomes an additional focus on issues such as digitalisation and trade, or trade and the environment.

The successful candidate will supervise master’s dissertations and PhD theses in the Department of International Economics. They will also teach courses and supervise master’s dissertations in the Institute’s interdisciplinary Master in International and Development Studies. They may also be called upon to contribute to executive education programmes. The Institute being interdisciplinary, the selected candidate should be interested in interdisciplinary dialogue.

The teaching language is either English or French. Prior knowledge of French is not required, but the successful candidate is expected to acquire a passive knowledge of it within two years of being hired.

Candidates are required to submit a cover letter, a CV, a job market paper, a research statement, a teaching statement , and three reference letters. Other samples of research work and doctoral coursework transcripts are welcome, but not required.
