Our Antitrust and Competition Economics (NA) practice hiring locations are Boston, MA; Chicago, IL; Oakland/San Francisco Bay Area, CA; Toronto ON; Washington, DC.

For more than 50 years, CRA has been a leader in providing economic analysis, advice, and testimony for antitrust and merger cases worldwide. Our work as antitrust experts focuses on rigorous empirical assessments of whether competition in a market has been or will be adversely affected, leaving consumers to face higher prices, fewer choices, or stifled innovation. CRA’s expertise in antitrust and competition economics finds application in a wide range of cases including those related to monopolization, collusion, exclusive dealing, innovation policy, and merger review. We tailor our analyses to the facts of each case, employing tools such as econometrics, game theory, incentive modeling, and merger simulation as needed. Our projects are led by internal experts or leading industrial organization academics including Fiona Scott Morton (Yale), Kevin Murphy (Chicago), Steven Salop (Georgetown), Carl Shapiro (Berkeley), Ralph Winter (UBC), Adonis Yatchew (UToronto), and Frank Mathewson (UToronto), Joshua Gans (UToronto). Whether before a court or a regulatory agency, CRA consultants set a high standard for the clear communication of sophisticated economic analysis in complex cases.

Responsibilities may include:

  • Working closely with leading academics or internal CRA experts, managing the research process, and supervising, training and mentoring junior analysts
  • Conducting research in a supportive, team-oriented environment
  • Acting as a primary point of contact for clients and assisting in the development and presentation of client deliverables including expert reports and white papers summarizing opinions, conclusions, and recommendations using market, industry, or proprietary client data
  • Programming, model building and/or regression analysis in statistical analysis programs (such as Stata, SAS, Matlab, R, Mathematica and Python)
  • Ensuring the integrity and accuracy of analyses and opinions

As most of our work is done in the office, minimal travel is required.

Qualifications

Successful candidates will have or be expected to complete a Ph.D. in economics by 2023, and will have specific expertise in the fields of industrial organization, applied microeconomics, econometrics, labor, health, or other quantitative areas.
