The Department of Economics at Tilburg University’s School of Economics and Management is seeking to hire a Postdoctoral Researcher specializing in Experimental and Behavioral Economics. The postdoc will be involved in the research project “Emotional skills: The role of emotional intelligence for strategic interactions and markets (EMOSKILLS)”, funded by the ERC Starting Grant of Boris van Leeuwen.

The Postdoctoral Researcher will be appointed for a fixed term of three years, starting in September 2023 (or earlier/later if mutually agreed upon). The position is targeted at an experimental economist who has expertise in designing and implementing laboratory experiments, and who is interested in studying the role of emotional intelligence. The successful candidate is expected to contribute to the ERC research project but will also have time for independent research. There will be a light teaching load.

Candidates for the position should have the following qualifications:

  • A PhD or equivalent degree in economics or a related field (or a PhD manuscript approved by August 2023)
  • Research experience or publications that are indicative of a strong desire and ability to perform high-quality research
  • Genuine interest in the research topic of the ERC project
  • Experience with the design and implementation of laboratory experiments (including knowledge of oTree or PHP etc.)
  • Strong command of English

Tilburg University is among the top European institutions specializing in social sciences. The Department of Economics has a strong research reputation, with a highly active research group in Experimental and Behavioral Economics (Behavioral and Experimental Economists @ Tilburg) and a state-of-the-art laboratory (CentERlab). We offer competitive European salaries. Researchers from outside the Netherlands can apply for a tax-free allowance equal to 30% of their taxable salary (for the first five years of their stay in the Netherlands).

Application Instructions:

Applications and accompanying documents should be submitted electronically using this website. Applications should be submitted no later than January 15. Applications should include a cover letter, a curriculum vitae, a research paper, and at least two reference letters.
