CRA's Labor & Employment practice provides expertise and support in a wide range of litigation disputes involving employment processes such as compensation, hiring, promotion, termination, and the role of gender, race, ethnicity and age in employment practices. Our clients, which include preeminent law firms, Fortune 500 companies, and government agencies, come to us for our technical skills, rigorous analysis, and expert insight they need to understand all aspects of their employment data. We also assist employers by conducting proactive studies of employment and contracting practices, monitoring consent decrees and settlement agreements, and designing systems to track employment practices.

Senior Associate responsibilities may include:

  • Conducting research in a team-oriented environment alongside some of the most respected academics, industry experts, and regulators in the world;
  • Identifying and conceptualizing issues, designing complex economic models to analyze data, and managing the research process;
  • Supervising, training and mentoring junior analysts;
  • Assisting in the development and presentation of client deliverables, including expert reports and white papers summarizing opinions, conclusions, and recommendations using market, industry or client-proprietary data;
  • Acting as primary contact for attorneys and other industry or government clients on a variety of practice-relevant issues;
  • Programming, building models and/or performing regression analyses in statistical analysis programs (such as Stata, SAS, Python, or R)
  • Ensuring the integrity and accuracy of analyses and opinions;
  • Participating in practice-building activities (training, recruiting, publication, expertise sharing, etc.).

As most of our work is done in the office, minimal travel is required.

Desired Qualifications

Successful candidates will have or be expected to complete a Ph.D. in economics by 2025 and will have specific expertise in the fields of labor, applied microeconomics, econometrics, or other quantitative areas.

We assist firms and their legal advisors in all types of competition proceedings before competition authorities and courts: mergers and acquisitions, abuse of dominance allegations, cartels, restrictive commercial agreements, market investigations, litigation and disputes, intellectual property or state aid. We also provide advice to regulatory authorities in similar matters.

CRA seeks new PhD economists with strong grounding in Applied Microeconomics or Applied Microeconometrics to join CRA’s European Competition practice. Senior Associates have the opportunity to immediately help shape the economic analysis and thinking for some of the largest, high profile and most significant competition cases in Europe. Our European Competition practice office locations are in the UK (London), Belgium (Brussels), Germany (Munich and Dusseldorf) and France (Paris).

Senior Associate responsibilities may include:

  • Identifying and conceptualising issues, specifying rigorous economic models to analyse market issues and data, undertaking statistical and econometric estimation, and managing the work of research associate staff and colleagues;
  • Supervising, training and mentoring research associate staff;
  • Assisting in the development and presentation of client deliverables, including expert reports and white papers summarising opinions, conclusions, and recommendations using market, industry or client-proprietary data;
  • Acting as a primary point of contact for lawyers and other industry or government clients on a variety of practice-relevant issues;
  • Programming, model building and/or regression analysis in statistical analysis programs (such as Stata, Python, R, SAS, Matlab, and Mathematica) including large data projects requiring use of cloud computing;
  • Ensuring the integrity and accuracy of analyses and opinions; and
  • Participating in practice-building activities (training, recruiting, publication, expertise sharing, etc.).

As most of our work takes place in CRA’s offices, minimal travel is required.
