The Academic Coordinator role is essential to the academic delivery of the Programs. This position will be responsible for:

  • Instruction and training of students in applied finance and investment research;
  • Curriculum execution and coordination of learning outcomes;
  • Student mentorship, feedback, and progress evaluation;
  • Delivery of technical skill-building sessions and performance-based coaching;
  • Oversight of admissions from a pedagogical lens, including evaluation criteria and applicant coaching;
  • Coordination of alumni and mentor educational activities in support of student learning.

The Academic Coordinator will report to the Managing Director of the PMF Program, who holds an Adjunct Professor appointment and is responsible for the strategic leadership and external engagement of the program. The Academic Coordinator role includes designing and delivering educational content, assessing student learning, and mentoring students—all of which are central to UBC’s definition of faculty roles. Thus, the Academic Coordinator will hold an Adjunct Professor appointment at the school.

This position plays a direct and essential role in shaping the learning journey of PMF and SWIFT students. The position involves academic judgment, feedback, and evaluation of student work, which is consistent with faculty-level responsibility. The role contributes to curriculum delivery and co-curricular pedagogy in the context of applied finance.

The position requires a graduate degree in Finance, CFA or CPA designation, and 7+ years of industry or instructional experience. The teaching content involves complex financial modeling, portfolio risk management, and investment research practices that require disciplinary fluency equivalent to that of a faculty instructor.

The responsibilities and expectations align closely with the UBC Instructor faculty stream, including: Excellence in teaching; Development and delivery of high-quality learning materials; Mentoring and supporting student academic and professional growth; Contributing to educational programming and academic service.

UBC Sauder’s Finance Division ranks among the leading finance groups in the world in terms of both research and teaching. The expected position start date is November 1, 2025 or sooner, and is subject to final budgetary approval.
