ROCKWOOL FOUNDATION BERLIN – Institute for the Economy and the Future of Work (RFBerlin) invites applications for several positions as Postdoctoral Fellow for an initial contract of two years, with the potential for extension (shorter contracts may also be considered for suitable candidates). The working location is Berlin. Candidates are expected to have excellent training in (applied) economics and econometrics and should be highly proficient in the analysis of survey and administrative data. For some positions, knowledge of big data techniques including machine learning, web scraping, etc. is welcome.

RFBerlin is a new research institute directed by Christian Dustmann and Alexandra Spitz-Oener, funded by the ROCKWOOL Foundation. It is focused on applied and data driven research into significant and relevant challenges to the welfare state in a globalized world. The Institute aims to inform and raise the standard of public debate, and to create the best possible basis for political decision making by producing research that is impartial, based on objective scientific principles and adheres to the highest standards of academic excellence.

This call is for projects headed by RFBerlin project leaders Jerome Adda, Sascha O. Becker, Thomas Cornelissen, Christian Dustmann, Tommaso Frattini, Guido Friebel, Albrecht Glitz, Uta Schoenberg, Andrea Weber, Josef Zweimueller, Fabrizio Colella, Jan Nimczik and Alexandra Spitz-Oener. The research is concerned with a wide range of social and economic issues such as health and the labour market, regional inequalities, knowledge spillovers, globalisation and economic espionage, technology, organization and management of work, and migration. Please consult the RFBerlin website for the scope of our work in general.

RFBerlin's postdoctoral fellows participate in the Berlin-wide career development program (the Berlin School of Economics, BSE), and project leaders are closely involved in the mentoring of the students and postdocs within their remit. The RFBerlin postdoctoral fellow program aims to enable and promote outstanding research by offering administrative as well as RA support for successful candidates. Positions come without any teaching responsibilities. Postdoctoral fellows will benefit from RFBerlin's broad international connections, having opportunities to interact with top researchers visiting or working in the Institute, as well as the potential to spend time at partner institutions to facilitate collaboration and develop research projects.

RFBerlin is an equal opportunity employer. Please submit your electronic application including a CV, a motivation letter, your job market paper, up to two representative manuscripts (optional), and at least two letters of reference by November 19, 2023 (12 a.m. UTC) via econjobmarket.org.

We will conduct virtual interviews in December 2023, predominantly as part of the European Job Market. For further information on the Institute, please refer to https://www.rfberlin.com and feel free to contact info@rfberlin.com if you have any questions.
