You are expected to teach and supervise students at Bachelor’s, Master’s and PhD level and to carry out research of the highest international standards, which contributes to developing the academic field of economics.

Also, the successful candidate is expected to attract external research funding, to develop corporate business relations, and to contribute to knowledge exchange and dissemination of research results. The department is international and has more than 30 nationalities represented as department members. Non-Danish applicants are expected to learn Danish within the first few years of employment.

Qualifications

To qualify for a Full Professorship, the applicant must take on a leadership role in research collaboration, teaching development and administrative duties. The applicant must conduct original research within the field of economics in broad terms and must be able to demonstrate to have made significant contributions to developments in the field. The applicant’s publication record should document publications in highly ranked scientific journals. The applicant must have demonstrated independence and research leadership e.g., in attracting external funding and supervision of young researchers. Equally important, the applicant must be able to demonstrate high quality teaching at the undergraduate and graduate level and it will be desirable that the candidate has experience with management or development of study programs.

Permanent employment as professor at Aarhus BSS requires completion of the supervision course and also the course Online and blended learning provided by Centre for Educational Development at Aarhus University. If you have not completed the courses before commencement of employment, continued employment will be conditional on completion of the courses within a two year period.

The required qualifications in research and teaching are elaborated below:

1 Research qualifications

Applicants are expected to have a well-documented international research profile with emphasis on publications in leading peer-reviewed journals of the relevant field. The applicant should have teaching and research experience for a number of years in a tenured position as associate professor (or similar). The applicant must have produced a significant body of publications in terms of quantity and quality referring to leading journal lists covering the relevant field. As a guideline, the successful candidate has at least one publication per research year (accounting for leave periods) and in total at least 10-15 publications in good peer-reviewed journals, among which a portion must be in top general interest or top field journals. Top general interest and top field journals carry greater weight and generally quality is preferred to and compensates for quantity. Candidates should show research momentum; working papers, and papers submitted to journals and papers documented to be in a revise- resubmit stage can be considered as well and a research proposal should describe research plans for the coming years. Qualifications are considered in relation to the number of years as a researcher (accounting for possible leave periods).
Documentation via co-author declarations should be presented that shows the capacity to carry out independent research.

The applicant should document experience with research leadership and supervision of PhD students, and the ability to and potential for attraction of external research funding should be documented and described.

2 Didactical/pedagogical/teaching competencies and experiences

The applicant should have substantial teaching experience at several levels and the quality of teaching should be documented by positive teaching evaluations, teaching awards etc. A teaching portfolio should be submitted with the application where didactical/pedagogical competencies, experiences, and visions are carefully described. Any experience with course- and education development should be described.
