Employment as a postdoctoral researcher in economics is available at the Division of Economics in the Department of Management and Engineering. This position is funded by the Catharina Högbom and Michael Cocozza Foundation for Research and Cultural Purposes in Linköping Municipality. While the research direction for the position is open and encompasses all areas in economics, including financial economics, it should be related to at least one goal in the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. The specific focus will be determined through consultation between the hired candidate and the division. Your tasks will include:
As postdoc, you will principally carry out research. A certain amount of teaching may be part of your duties, up to a maximum of 20% of working hours.
To be qualified to take employment as postdoc, you must have been awarded a doctoral degree or have a foreign degree that is deemed to be equivalent to a doctoral degree. This degree must have been awarded at the latest by the point at which LiU makes its decision to employ you.
It is considered advantageous if your doctoral degree is no older than three years at application deadline for this job. If there are special reasons for having an older doctoral degree – such as taking statutory leave – then these may be taken into consideration.
We are seeking applicants who have a PhD in economics.
The primary basis of assessment will be the applicant’s documented scientific proficiency as well as the quality of the planned research activity, as described in the research plan. Therefore, your application should include a research plan that outlines how you propose to employ a 2-year postdoctoral position. It is a requirement that the planned research is related to at least one of the goals set out in the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. The ability to conduct independent research, as well as experience in participating in research collaborations, are also significant merits. It is particularly meritorious if you have documented experience in theoretical research and plan to continue this during your postdoctoral tenure.
As a person, you are confident, independent, and structured. You have an excellent ability to solve complex problems and communicate effectively. Commitment, ability to cooperate, and good personal qualities are highly valued. Strong proficiency in English, both in speech and writing, is a prerequisite.
You will be employed at the Division of Economics in the Department of Management and Engineering. The division consists of approximately 30 people, and its operations encompass research as well as education at the bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral levels within the Faculty of Arts and Sciences. The research at the division is characterized by interdisciplinarity through collaboration with other research environments, a clear relation to current societal problems and interaction with society, as well as a distinct policy orientation. The division conducts research in areas directly related to the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. Examples of these research areas include the economics of discrimination and inequality, sustainable finance, health economics, and transport economics.
This post is a temporary contract of two years with the possibility of extension up to a total maximum of three years. The position as a postdoc is full-time.
