The Department of Economics at The Catholic University of America seeks applicants to fill a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Microeconomics to begin in August 2024.

The preferred field of expertise is public economics (public policy) with interest also in environmental economics (climate change), and the digital economy (technology). Candidates with specialization in other areas of microeconomics are also encouraged to apply. PhD in Economics (or completed before August 2024) is essential. As undergraduate and graduate instruction is expected, teaching experience is highly desirable. Demonstrated strong actual and potential research is required. The successful candidate will have a strong commitment to excellence in teaching and research and a passion to mentor students and engage in service activities.

We seek candidates who understand, are enthusiastic about, and will make a significant contribution to the mission of the University, which reads as follows: “As the national university of the Catholic Church in the United States, founded and sponsored by the bishops of the country with the approval of the Holy See, The Catholic University of America is committed to being a comprehensive Catholic and American institution of higher learning, faithful to the teachings of Jesus Christ as handed on by the Church. Dedicated to advancing the dialogue between faith and reason, The Catholic University of America seeks to discover and impart the truth through excellence in teaching and research, all in service to the Church, the nation and the world.”

Complete applications will include:
1. Cover letter,
2. Curriculum Vitae,
3. Teaching Evaluations (if available),
4. Transcripts,
5. Statement of Teaching Philosophy,
6. Statement of Research,
7. Three Letters of Reference (sent separately), and
8. A one-to-two-page personal statement indicating how the applicant’s research, teaching, and service will make a distinctive contribution to our University’s mission and to the vision of Catholic education outlined in the Apostolic Constitution on Catholic Universities Ex Corde Ecclesiae.

Application deadline: November 15, 2023. Send applications to Dr. Martha Cruz: using 'Microeconomics Position - 2024' in the subject line.
