Assistant Professorship in Econometrics

We are looking for candidates from an internationally well-recognized PhD program with 1-2 years of post-doctoral experience. Outstanding candidates without post-doctoral experience are also encouraged to apply.

With respect to teaching responsibilities, the selected candidate is expected to initially teach Econometrics/Statistics in the undergraduate program and supervise students’ work. Teaching will be either in Catalan or Spanish, with the possibility of teaching partially in English. To facilitate the candidate’s research activity, teaching load is initially limited to 18 credits (i.e., three courses) per academic year.

The successful applicant is expected to prove potential for publication in top-ranked journals. Also, the successful candidate should collaborate with the established research groups of the Department in applying for external research funding, and to contribute to knowledge exchange and dissemination of research results.

Associate Professorships

We are looking for two candidates with an established record of excellent research and teaching and the ambition and strategy to apply for a Full Professorship in a few years. All fields of Economics are welcomed, with some advantage to either Urban and Regional, Innovation or Labor Economics from an applied approach; or Macroeconomics from a theoretical approach.

Although we offer tenured positions (i.e., Associate Professors), they can be converted into tenure-track positions (i.e., Assistant Professors) in case of high-standing candidates having the perspective of getting tenured in the period comprised within the two years after their recruitment.

Applicants are expected to have a well-documented international research profile with emphasis on publications in leading peer-reviewed journals of the relevant field. The applicants must have produced a significant body of publications in terms of quantity and quality referring to leading journals. Candidates should show research momentum with working papers or on-going projects with high potential. Complementary assets are proven experience attracting external research funds and proven commitment to the scholarly life of the Department.

Documented teaching and supervisor qualifications (preferably at different levels) are necessary and should be documented via positive teaching qualifications/assessments. We encourage applicants to submit a teaching portfolio including carefully documented didactical/pedagogical skills. Experience in graduate level teaching and thesis supervision (Master and PhD) is needed. Teaching must be either in Catalan or Spanish, with the possibility of teaching partially in English.
