The Institut d’Economía Barcelona—a research institute located in Barcelona (https://ieb.ub.edu/) is seeking to hire a part-time (15h per week) research assistant to work on a variety of research projects related to the impact of public policies on gender equality in the labor market.

The successful candidate will be working under the supervision of Dr. Jenifer Ruiz-Valenzuela (Universitat de Barcelona and IEB) and Claudia Hupkau (CUNEF Universidad, Madrid). We strongly encourage applicants who plan to do a PhD in Economics afterwards to apply.

The successful candidate will have the following responsibilities:

● Data cleaning and analysis.

● Literature reviews.

● Preparation of dissemination material (e.g., slides, graphs).

The requirements for this position are:

● Bachelors or Master’s degree in economics (or related discipline) with a strong academic record.

● Advanced user knowledge of statistical software such as Stata, R and/or Python.

● Experience with survey or administrative data cleaning and analysis is desirable.

● Fluency in English.

● Strong motivation and interest in economics research.

We will evaluate applications on a rolling basis until December 17th 2023, but we strongly recommend candidates to apply before December 10th 2023. Interviews will be held via Zoom.

The position will be based in Barcelona, Spain, starting as soon as possible. The expected duration of the position will be 1 year, with the possibility of extending to a second year, conditional on performance. We offer flexible working, including working from home and flexible hours.
