The Post-Doc will work under the supervision of the Principal Investigator, Professor Giulia Giupponi (www.giuliagiupponi.com) on Project MUR PRIN 2022 PNRR “The Career Progression Effects of Labor Market Policies”, prot. P2022FT9ZK, financed by the European Union – Next Generation EU. The position will start in May 2024 and last for up to 19 months.

This project aims at providing new evidence on the effects of labor market policies on career opportunities for individuals at the low end of the wage spectrum. Our policy focus is placed on minimum wages, a policy that has gained increasing prominence in the international policy debate around fair compensation and inclusive growth. We expect our empirical evidence to shed light on previously unexplored mechanisms and to guide policy-makers in the design of wage policies targeting the bottom of the wage distribution.

The candidate will carry out research on related topics at the intersection of the fields of labor economics and public finance. The research projects involve the use of micro data on firms and workers, and require strong coding skills (especially in STATA) and excellent knowledge of econometric analysis and quasi-experimental designs. Previous work on the employment and welfare effects of labor market and social insurance policies, using quasi-experimental methods, matched employer-employee administrative data and large-scale vacancy data will be especially appreciated.

Beyond participating to the PI’s project, the Post-Doc will be an integral part of the vibrant research community of Bocconi University which is home to many researchers in applied economics. We welcome applications from candidates holding or being in the process of obtaining a PhD in economics.
