Católica-Lisbon School of Business & Economics (CATÓLICA-LISBON: www.clsbe.lisboa.ucp.pt/) invites applications for up to 2 full-time Affiliate Professor positions in Finance and Accounting to start, preferably, in Fall 2024 (expected September 1st, 2024). The role focuses on teaching, student engagement, and employer outreach. We are looking for applicants with outstanding teaching and exceptional academic mentorship skills. Academic publications or industry experience are beneficial but not required. We offer a competitive salary based on qualifications and experience.

Faculty

CATÓLICA-LISBON provides a stimulating working environment and strong connection to industry partners while endeavoring to achieve high standards of teaching and support to students. The core research faculty consists of close to 50 tenure-track members with doctorates from top programs in North America (including Columbia, NYU, or Stanford) and in Europe (including INSEAD, LBS, City University of London, Ecole Polytechnique, and Tilburg). Affiliate professors represent about a fourth of the residential faculty at CATÓLICA-LISBON. The Finance and Accounting group includes about 15 tenured, tenure-track, and affiliate faculty members. An affiliate position at CATÓLICA-LISBON is a teaching, and service-focused faculty position, comprising two seniority levels: Affiliate and Senior Affiliate professor. Affiliate professors can obtain permanent positions and be promoted to Senior Affiliate Professor depending on performance.

Lisbon has recently been ranked the safest capital city in Europe. It is a thriving cultural hub with a vibrant restaurant scene, diverse artistic activities and sporting events, good public transportation, a public healthcare system, historic architecture, among the best weather in Europe, and easy access to world-class beaches.

Position Requirements

Applicants should hold a Ph.D. in Finance or Accounting or a closely related field from a recognized institution by the appointment date.

Applicants are expected to deliver high-quality teaching, coordinate programs, advise students at undergraduate and graduate levels, participate in committees, advise clubs and honor societies, as well as to build and maintain industry partnerships.

Applicants must be motivated to engage with students in the classroom. Affiliate positions involve teaching the equivalent of 6 courses per year in English at the undergraduate, MSc, and/or MBA levels. Affiliate faculty may also be invited to engage in executive education programs.

The ideal applicant will understand and develop the skills today's Finance students need. They should be familiar with recent pedagogical approaches, innovative in the classroom through experiential learning, real-world applications, and industry partnerships. Additionally, the applicant should have a strong desire to contribute to the growth of the school and the Finance programs.
