The Banque de France is recruiting several experienced or newly graduated PhDs in the fields of economics, econometrics and finance for its headquarters in Paris. This year, areas of particular interest are (i) monetary and financial economics (conventional and unconventional monetary policies, term structure modelling, banking, economics of crypto assets and CBDCs), (ii) macroeconomics (forecasting, time series econometrics, growth and productivity, expectations formation, heterogeneous agent modelling, economics of climate change), (iii) international economics (macro, trade, international finance, geo-economic fragmentation), (iv) European economics (single market, capital market union, economic governance, industrial policy), and (v) applied microeconomics (innovation and R&D, labour economics, public policy evaluation).

The Banque de France provides an excellent work and research environment. The successful candidates will be associated to reports and briefings for the Bank’s senior management, will contribute to the Bank's publications and to the development of its modelling toolbox, and will aim at producing high-quality research destined to be published in international academic journals. Candidates will be expected to participate in meetings organized by international organizations and engage with the academic community in their field of expertise. Research economists devote at least 50% of their working time to academic research projects.

Three-year fixed-term, full-time contracts are offered. Knowledge of French as a working language would be an asset but is not mandatory. Salary and benefits vary with experience and are competitive on a European scale.

Applicants should e-mail a CV, a job market paper and arrange for at least two reference letters to be sent to 1476-JOBMARKET-UT@banque-france.fr. Applications should be sent before 1 November, midnight Paris time. Incomplete application files will not be considered.

Interviews will be conducted remotely by video call from 16 to 19 December 2024 during the EJME 2024/2025.
