Summary: The New Mexico State University Department of Economics, Applied Statistics and International Business is seeking a candidate for a tenure-track Economics faculty position at the Assistant Professor level. New Mexico State University holds business and accounting accreditation by AACSB International. The opening is for a position beginning August 2025.
Required and Preferred Qualifications: Ph. D. in Economics or related disciplines is required. Candidates must have the degree in hand by the date of hire. A field in International Economics (JEL classification F0) is required. Candidates with experience and interests in Macro Economics (E0), or Regulatory and Industrial Policy (L5), or Energy (Q4) are preferred.
Applicants must be able to demonstrate evidence of successful teaching experience and research productivity in economics either in a prior professional position or as a doctoral student.
Job duties and responsibilities: The successful applicant will have responsibilities in teaching, research, and service to the department, college, university, and community. The initial teaching course load will be 6 credit hours per semester. The candidate is expected to publish peer-reviewed articles in related fields, teach courses and advise students at the undergraduate and graduate levels, and provide institutional services. The position may include participation in distance education.
