Postdoctoral Researcher in Productivity Dynamics and Growth (f/m/x 100%)

Successful candidates will be assigned to the Competitiveness Research Network (CompNet) that is part of the IWH Center for Factor Market Transformation, Energy Shocks, and Productivity Growth (FEP), starting in October 2025.

We expect the candidate to possess an excellent research profile in microeconomic productivity research using the lates theoretical an/or quantitative methods.The successful candidate will be expected to further develop the productivity hub at IWH consisting of excellent international networts such as www.comp-net.org or https://www.iwh-halle.de/en/research/projects/microprod/. A profile geared towards resource (re-)allocation on labour and capital markets and the micro foundations of growth as well as a close cooperation with the IWH research group led by Professor Javier Miranda, Professor Ufuk Akcigit, and Professor Eric Bartelsman are of particular interest. The contract is initially for two years but we are primarily interested in individuals interested in a permanent position and helping to lead the research department. The main office will be in Halle (Saale).

The candidate has a willingness to work in a highly dynamic environment, and to cooperate with national productivity boards and high-profile policy institutions (e.g., European Commission) across Europe. They will help manage the development and maintenance of CompNet and Microprod, and help coordinate the activities of a team of Master and Ph.D. students. Leadership skills, and experience in (co-)supervision of PhD students are advantages.

Your profile/Your motivation:

You hold a high-quality doctoral degree in economics or are close to completing it. You have a sound background in applied econometrics. We value good knowledge of relevant firm micro data. You have a strong interest in applying empirical economics to policy-relevant research questions.
