The Econometric Institute at Erasmus University Rotterdam invites applications for a full-time, fixed-term positions (3 years) as Researcher starting in September 2026 (or any mutually agreed upon earlier date). We are particularly interested in candidates with a PhD in the area of econometrics with the focus on panel data and/or network models. The research for this position will be funded by the Dutch Research Council (NWO).
Applicants should have (or be very near completion of) a PhD by the start date in economics, econometrics, statistics, machine learning, or any other appropriate field of research. Candidates should demonstrate excellence in research in one of the aforementioned fields. A successful candidate is expected to work on research projects with one or more faculty members, as well as perform other research-related tasks such as the supervision of students for Bachelor’s and Master’s theses and case studies.
The compensation package is competitive at the European level and includes several secondary benefits. Favorable tax agreements may apply to non-Dutch applicants.
About the Econometric Institute
The Econometric Institute has a long and strong research tradition in econometrics, statistics, data science, and operations research, with 50+ faculty members across these areas. Research at the Econometric Institute focuses on developing novel methods in econometrics and operations research, and on applications of such methods in finance, marketing, macroeconomics, transportation and logistics.
The Econometric Institute is part of an active research community within Erasmus School of Economics (ESE). ESE is one of the largest and most successful economics schools in Europe, offering excellent research facilities to its faculty. The school offers an (international) bachelor and master program in econometrics and operations research, attracting 450 bachelor and 250 new master students per year.
ESE faculty members actively participate in the teaching and research activities of the Tinbergen Institute and the Erasmus Research Institute of Management (ERIM). In addition, there is a close cooperation with other schools of the university such as the Rotterdam School of Management (RSM) via the research institute ERIM.
