CY Cergy Paris Université invites applications for a fully funded three-year Postdoctoral Researcher position at the Thema research center, starting as soon as possible.

The successful candidate will join the HARMONIC project (https://pepr-mobidec.fr/harmonic), an ambitious interdisciplinary research program developing next-generation decision tools for sustainable mobility, freight transport, land use, and climate policy evaluation. The project (and funding of the post-doc position) ends August 31, 2029.

The position offers the opportunity to work with André de Palma and Laurent Gatineau in a highly international and research-active environment (7 research laboratories are involved).

Research Responsibilities

The postdoctoral researcher will contribute to the following tasks:

  • Development and calibration of the METROPOLIS2 transport model (https://metropolis2.org/),
  • Integration of METROPOLIS2 with EUrbanSim land-use model,
  • Construction of synthetic populations (households, individuals, freight vehicles),
  • Analysis of congestion, accessibility, and behavioural responses,
  • Estimation of local and global CO₂ emissions,
  • Policy evaluation of Low Emission Zones, fleet electrification, rail investment, and land-use regulation,
  • Preparation of academic publications and conference presentations,
  • Coordination with partner research centers in a national research consortium and participation in the annual reports, and to other deliverables (2 other deliverables per year on average).

Applications focus on Île-de-France and Strasbourg metropolitan area.

Qualifications

Applicants must hold a PhD in economics, transportation, urban economics, econometrics, data science, or a related quantitative field, by the starting date.

Preferred qualifications include: strong empirical or modelling skills; Python programming; econometrics/statistics; interest in transport, cities, climate, and/or public policy; ability to work in an interdisciplinary and international team.

The candidate must be fluent in French before the starting day. Interviews will be conducted both in English and French.

Compensation

Salary is competitive and follows French public-sector postdoctoral scales, with full social benefits.
