The Econometric Institute at Erasmus University Rotterdam invites applications for multiple full-time tenure-track faculty positions at the Assistant Professor level. The expected start date is September 2027. We are particularly interested in candidates with expertise in Financial Econometrics, Data Science, or Machine Learning.

Applicants should have (or be very near completion of) a PhD by the start date. Candidates should demonstrate excellence in research and teaching and a commitment to university service. Specific expertise in an application area is highly appreciated. The department’s current focal application areas are finance, energy and sustainability, policy evaluation, climate, transportation and logistics, and analytics for business (see here for more details).

The compensation package is competitive at the European level and includes several secondary benefits. Favorable tax agreements may apply to non-Dutch applicants. The school offers the possibility for early-tenure (after 3 years), that is, already being granted a permanent contract at the level of assistant professor.

About the Econometric Institute

The Econometric Institute has a long and strong research tradition in econometrics, statistics, data science, and operations research, with 50+ faculty members across these areas. Research at the Econometric Institute focuses on developing novel methods in econometrics and operations research, and on applications of such methods in fields ranging from finance and macroeconomics to climate, energy, and analytics for business.

The Econometric Institute is part of an active research community within Erasmus School of Economics (ESE). ESE is one of the largest and most successful economics schools in Europe, offering excellent research facilities to its faculty. The school offers an (international) bachelor and master program in econometrics and operations research, attracting 450 bachelor and 250 new master students per year.

ESE faculty members actively participate in the teaching and research activities of the Tinbergen Institute and the Erasmus Research Institute of Management (ERIM). In addition, there is a close cooperation with other schools of the university such as the Rotterdam School of Management (RSM) via the research institute ERIM.
