The Department of Economics seeks to appoint two new staff members at the level of Lecturer or Senior Lecturer. One of the positions gives preference to candidates working in the area of empirical international economics including trade and/or international macroeconomics. For the second position we particularly welcome applicants with expertise in the areas of environmental economics, urban economics or health economics. The candidates will be expected to teach under-graduate and post-graduate courses and also supervise research students including PhDs. They must demonstrate willingness to engage with colleagues (both within and outside the department and school) policy makers and industry and also compete for external research grants.

The Department has a strong research culture and is a leading research institution in Australasia. It has comprehensive undergraduate and post-graduate teaching programmes.  The university values excellence in teaching and successful candidates must demonstrate an ability to teach well at all levels.  Continuation (tenure) depends on satisfactory performance across research, teaching and service.

Applications should be made via econjobmarket.org and should include a cover letter, curriculum vitae, one or more research papers, teaching evaluations and three letters of reference. Applicants are strongly encouraged to apply by December 1, 2019. Preliminary interviews will be held at the ASSA meetings in San Diego, 3-5 January 2020.
