Center for Excellence in Finance and Economic Research (CEFER)

Researcher

 

The Bank of Lithuania is inviting applications for a position as Researcher at the Center for Excellence in Finance and Economic Research (CEFER), both at the senior level and at the junior level. The position is centered on research with minimal policy involvement and a small teaching load. CEFER constitutes the major nucleus for high-quality research in economics and finance in the country. CEFER is looking for candidates working in any area of economics and finance. This year, however, CEFER is particularly encouraging candidates to apply who conduct research in (one or both) of the following fields:

 

  • Empirical Finance
  • Financial Technologies (e.g., FinTech, Blockchain, Regtech)

  

Economic research is an integral part of the Bank of Lithuania’s work flow and is an important element of the decision making process. CEFER is a joint venture with the two largest public universities in Lithuania, namely Vilnius University and Kaunas University of Technology. In 2018 CEFER initiated a rigorous 3-year undergraduate degree in Quantitative Economics at Vilnius University.

 

The Center is based in Vilnius, the capital of one of Europe’s fastest growing economies - Lithuania, famous for its unique old town, vibrant culture and easy access to major European cities.

 

Requirements (junior level):

  • A Ph.D. in economics, finance or related fields (or near completion)
  • A promising job-market paper and additional research projects/papers/ideas
  • Teaching experience or the willingness to teach

·         Experience or willingness to attract third-party funding

·         Excellent written and verbal presentation skills in English

 

Requirements (senior level):

  • A Ph.D. in economics, finance or related fields
  • Post-doc experience
  • Publication record commensurate with career stage

·         Teaching experience

·         Experience or willingness to attract third-party funding

·         Excellent written and verbal presentation skills in English
