Research training:

Postdoctoral scholars will continue to train and have more new, supportive cooperative experience in order to prepare for an independent research career.  Postdoctoral scholars will strengthen their training in economic theory and econometrics while conducting research in energy and environmental economics.  Specific contributions will include econometric modeling, high-level computer programming, analysis of data, writing reports, generating graphs and figures and presentations on and off campus.   Postdoctoral scholars will have the opportunity to attend major research conferences and will be expected to present their research findings at our regular (at least quarterly) research team meetings, as well as within our larger departmental workshops.  Postdoctoral scholars will also attend scientific seminars and symposiums held at the University of Chicago and other institutes in and outside of the Chicago area.

Postdocs will be invited and encouraged to attend a wide array of academic seminars and workshops around campus.  Additionally, they will be encouraged to develop collaborative relationships with academic staff/faculty and visitors in the Harris School, Social Service Administration, the Booth School, and other units around campus as our research projects benefit from interdisciplinary collaborations.  Our goal is to provide a collegial training environment so that the postdoctoral scholar will be able to build on his/her foundation to become a successful independent researcher in the near future.
