The Department of Economics, Philosophy and Political Science, Irving K. Barber School of Arts and Sciences at the University of British Columbia, Okanagan Campus, invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Economics, specifically in the area of microeconomics. The successful candidate will be expected to have completed a PhD in Economics at the time of appointment and will become a member of the Department of Economics, Philosophy and Political Science (https://epp.ok.ubc.ca). The appointment is expected to start on July 1, 2020, or soon thereafter.

Candidates should also demonstrate excellence in research, including the potential to develop a record of high quality, scholarly contributions in their respective field of research, including the potential to develop externally-funded research programs, commensurate with their level of expertise. The position presents candidates with the opportunity to contribute to the further development of the curriculum, supervise undergraduate and graduate students, and fulfill service obligations to the University and community.
The Department of Economics, Philosophy and Political Science, at UBC’s Okanagan campus, is a dynamic and highly interdisciplinary department with an active engagement in research and teaching. The Department is housed in the Irving K. Barber School of Arts and Sciences. The Faculty is undergoing a transition that will result in the formation of an autonomous Faculty of Science and an autonomous Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences in 2020. The new Faculties will contain both discipline-based and interdisciplinary programs at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
