The Department of Economics and Business Economics at Aarhus BSS, Aarhus University, invites applications for a number of positions as full professorship in the field of economics. The professorship is a full-time and permanent position starting on 1 September 2020 or as soon as possible subject to mutual agreement.
The department covers the classical fields in economics: microeconomics, macroeconomics, and econometrics, including behavioral economics, financial economics, industrial organization, international economics, labor economics, amongst other fields. In addition, the department also covers fields in business economics: financial accounting, auditing, finance, management science, and business analytics.
Job description
The successful candidate is expected to contribute significantly to the research, teaching and general academic environment of the department and to promote the overall strategy of the department and Aarhus BSS. You are expected to teach and supervise students at Bachelor’s, Master’s and PhD level and to carry out research of the highest international standards, which contributes to developing the academic field of economics.
Also, the successful candidate is expected to attract external research funding, to develop corporate business relations, and to contribute to knowledge exchange and dissemination of research results. The department is international and has more than 30 nationalities represented as department members. Non-Danish applicants are expected to learn Danish within the first few years of employment and the department supports language training and offers teaching relief to learn Danish.
Your qualifications
To qualify for a Full Professorship, the applicant must conduct original research within the field of economics and must be able to demonstrate to have made significant contributions to developments in the field. The applicant’s publication record should contain publications in highly ranked scientific journals. The applicant must have demonstrated research leadership and administrative skills e.g. in attracting external funding and supervision of young researchers. Equally important, the applicant must be able to demonstrate quality teaching at the undergraduate and graduate level within Economics and it will be desirable that the candidate has experience with management or development of study programs.
Employment as professor at Aarhus BSS requires completion of the supervision course as well as the Blended Learning – Go Online course provided by Centre for Teaching and Learning at Aarhus BSS. If candidates have not completed equivalent courses prior to employment, continued employment will be conditional on completion of the courses within a five-year period.

The Department of Economics and Business Economics is one of the six departments at Aarhus BSS, one of the five faculties at Aarhus University. Aarhus BSS unites the business and social science-related research fields and brings them closer together to reflect the close relationship between society and the business community. As part of a Top 100 university, Aarhus BSS, and specifically the Department of Economics and Business Economics, has achieved the triple-crown AASCB, AMBA and EQUIS accreditations.
At the Department of Economics and Business Economics, we cover a broad range of academic areas. We aim to conduct research in a broad range of areas within economics and business economics and offer degree programmes at the highest level. The department employs approximately 160 academic staff members and 70 PhD students, and our academic staff is highly international and culturally diverse. We focus specifically on the recruitment of excellent and international researchers, and our research and degree programmes also have a strong international focus. The Department hosts a number of research centers and external research funding of activities has top priority.

The appointment is made in accordance with the Memorandum on Job Structure for Academic Staff at Danish Universities as well as the circular on the Collective Agreement for Academics Employed by the State (in Danish).
