ENS de Lyon is seeking to recruit a Postdoctoral research Fellow on a two-year, fixed term contract for research in the area of Public Economics. Anyone with strong theoretical and/or empirical skills in public economics with a particular interest in taxation and/or inequality is encouraged to apply.

The postdoc position will start on September 1st, 2021 and is funded by the French Agency of Research. The monthly gross salary is between 2000 and 2500 euros, commensurate with experience. The successful candidates will be based at Ecole Normale Superieure de Lyon and will have access to research funds. The teaching load is zero. There is however a possibility of complementing the postdoc wage with some teaching activities in the Advanced Economics track of ENS de Lyon (where courses are in English).

The post-doc researcher will participate in the research project “Taxation and Inequality in a Globalized World”, which aims at investigating how governments can implement more effective redistributive policies to limit inequality and promote economic growth. This project is divided into three sub-projects:

  1. Impact of Public Policies on Inequalities.
  2. Estimation of Behavioral Responses to Taxation (firms as well as households)
  3. Theory of Optimal Taxation

The post-doc will work under the supervision of Prof. Laurent Simula and Dr Jonathan Goupille-Lebret.

Applicants are expected to show outstanding commitment to research in economics, with strong quantitative skills. The candidates must be in possession of a PhD or in the process of completing it by the time of the hiring.

Application requirements:

- a cover letter reporting your specific interest

- 2 to 3 reference letters

- a representative paper

- a curriculum vitae

- a list of publications

- the diplomas or any other relevant certificate in their possession.

All applications should be submitted before November 25th through econjobmarket:

We will interview candidates on December 14-18, 2021, during the virtual Job Market organized by the European Economic Association ( Candidates who do not plan to be present in that venue should indicate it in their applications. Alternative dates and arrangements can be made for their interviews. A selection of candidates will then be invited in Lyon for fly-outs (travel costs are fully covered).
