We are looking for a
Post-Doctoral Researcher in Environmental Economics
interested in applied research and awareness-raising projects with an orientation towards public policy and collective environmental thinking.
The successful candidate will conduct applied research in the context of partnerships with Swiss and international partners (NGOs, private enterprises, foundations, …) and the academic community of HEC Lausanne, IMD, and EPFL. The position offers interactions and discussions with leading scientists in Economics, Business, and Natural Sciences/Engineering, as well as with private and public sector decisionmakers and the public. Insights produced in the context of the research will be published in policy reports, media outlets, as well as in peer-reviewed journals.
Projects conducted by the Post-Doctoral Researcher could focus on the challenges posed by climate change, such as measurement issues with an impact on sustainability, the issue of pricing externalities such as carbon with a view to meeting the commitments of the Paris agreement, and the issue of carbon capture and storage. Other areas of interest are the circular economy and sustainable consumption behavior.
Formal requirements:
· PhD in Economics, preferably with an orientation in environmental economics
Desired skills:
· Good knowledge of microeconomics and/or applied microeconomics
· Proven expertise in environmental economics and/or environmental policy, or strong interest for these topics
· Experience in policy work, scientific policy advice, or international cooperation
· Proficiency in English, knowledge of French desirable – Good writing and communication skills
· Capacity to work autonomously within a small dynamic team
