A qualification agreement can be concluded after a contract duration of two years (§ 27 of the Collective Bargaining Agreement). Pursuant to WU’s Personnel Development Plan, this position can only be fixed-term for up to six years. Once all objectives agreed upon in the qualification agreement have been fulfilled, the employment relationship can be made permanent. From an organizational regulation perspective, employees who have successfully completed a qualification agreement are to be classified as full professors.
The Institute for Ecological Economics is seeking a postdoctoral researcher with a research focus on work in a sustainable economy to join a vibrant interdisciplinary team of researcher in the field of economics and the environment. The position will be a tenure track assistant professorship with a clear focus on research. The successful candidate will also teach on the Bachelor’s and Master’s level with a teaching load of eight hours a year (e.g. four courses with a minimum of 22.5 contact hours each). Depending on his or her background, the candidate may teach courses of Sustainable Economy for Bachelor students, in the MSc Socio-Economics as well as courses in the MSc Socio-Ecological Economics and Policy.
The Department of Socioeconomics integrates various social science approaches to facilitate the analysis of economic and societal issues related to, inter alia, economic growth, inequality, and sustainability. Prompted by ongoing crises, it utilizes a range of approaches and methodologies to describe, understand, and explain social, economic, political and ecological developments. The Institute for Ecological Economics is the leading institution for research and teaching sustainability within the Department of Socioeconomics. The institute’s 30+ researchers are global experts in researching, teaching, and engaging communities in the fields of global resource use, the socio-ecological transformation, sustainable work, ecological macroeconomics, and climate economics and finance. The institute seeks support in its quantitative assessment of the overlapping areas of employment, distribution, and environment using micro- and macroeconometric approaches.
The minimum monthly gross salary amounts to €3,945.90, this salary may be adjusted based on equivalent prior work experience.
