The Department of Economics at the Universidad Carlos III de Madrid invites applications for tenure-track positions at the assistant professor level beginning in September 2022. Candidates should have completed a doctorate by this date. The Department seeks applicants with the ability to publish in leading journals and provide high-quality teaching. Applications from all fields of economics are welcome. Female candidates are particularly encouraged to apply.
Candidates are expected to teach 5 sections (105 teaching hours) per year. The teaching load is reduced to 3 sections in the first year. Reductions are also assigned to faculty who obtain national research fellowships. The tenure evaluation takes place after six years.
Language:
Language is NOT a relevant criterion for hiring or promotion decisions. Knowledge of Spanish is not required. The graduate programs, all research activities, and most communication within the department are conducted in English. Teaching, including at the undergraduate level, can be performed in English.
Deadline and Selection Process:
Applications must be received by Saturday, November 20, 2021. Interviews will be conducted online at the 2021 European job market meeting, and at the 2022 ASSA meeting. After the interviews, the Department will invite some candidates for campus visits and seminars. Depending on how the COVID situation evolves, campus visits and seminars might take place online.
