About AIReF

The Independent Authority for Fiscal Responsibility (AIReF) is an Independent Administrative Authority whose purpose is to oversee the sustainability of public finances as a means for ensuring the economic growth and well-being of Spanish society in the medium and long-term. The Public Spending Evaluation Division within AIReF performs evaluations of public spending at the request of any Spanish General Government sub-sector. We bring academic rigor and objectivity to the public policy evaluation and evidence-based decision making, offering an excellent environment for working and participating in research analyses of public relevance. AIReF is a young public institution which began operating in 2014, but in just a few years it has built a reputation for objectivity, independence and transparency in its analyses and work.

The Position

AIReF is interested in recruiting outstanding post-doctoral economists to join the Public Spending Evaluation Division.

Applicants must hold a PhD in Economics and have a strong background in quantitative and analytical methods such as microeconometrics, applied microeconomics and programming.

Candidates are expected to have a proactive, innovative, collaborative, and versatile attitude to develop policy evaluations in a wide range of topics: labor, education, health, welfare, pensions, taxation and subsidies. Communication skills and abilities to build policy conclusions from the research conducted will be valued.

Knowledge of Spanish is required.

EU citizenship or a permanent residence permit is required.
