The Gender Economics Research Group
The Gender Economics Research Group is part of the Public Economics Department at the German Institute for Economic Research. One main area of research of the group is the analysis of various gender gaps on the labor market. Specifically, the groups’s research is focused on the study of the causes of public policies that affect gender disparities on the labor market and beyond.
The research group focusses on empirical research, mostly based on survey data or administrative data such as social security records. We mostly apply policy evaluation and panel methods, but also conduct experiments and collect own data, for example on women in leadership positions.
The department aims at producing high quality academic output that contributes to the understanding of causes and consequences of gender disparities, in particular on the labor market.
