At the University of Vechta’s Faculty of Natural and Social Sciences, a temporary part-time position is available at the recently launched research cluster "Sustainability-oriented Transformation Management in Rural Areas" as of the next possible date as

Research Associate (div./f./m.)

Pay group 13 TV-L, part time 65 %

The position is assigned to the Professorship of Bioeconomy and Resource Efficiency and is initially limited to three years. The professorship investigates the interplay of risk, uncertainty and sustainability in human-environment systems on a global, regional and local scale. Special emphasis is placed on development, transfer and application of quantitative methods as well as on the linking of ecological and economic theories for research into the bioeconomy as one possible strategy for a sustainable transformation. Together with the other professorships of the research cluster, the professorship actively contributes to the transformation of the region in inter- and transdisciplinary projects.

Your tasks

  • Conception, implementation and documenta-tion of research in the subject areas of the pro-fessorship and the research cluster
  • Publication of results in international peer-re-viewed scientific journals and presentation at national and international conferences
  • Cooperation with the cluster as well as internal and external cooperation partners
  • Support with administrative issues in research, teaching and outreach.

Your profile

  • University degree at master's level in econom-ics, environmental science, psychology or a re-lated field, ideally with a sustainability focus
  • Very good analytical skills and knowledge of quantitative methods (e.g., statistical data anal-ysis, mathematical modeling)
  • Very good command of written and spoken English, ideally a good working knowledge of German or the willingness to acquire it
  • Independent, organized way of working and thinking as well as willingness to pursue a Ph.D.
  • Willingness to engage in interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary collaboration as well as partici-pation in teaching activities.
