The Research Department of the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta is seeking to hire two research economists in the field of macroeconomics and monetary policy. We are seeking candidates from both the rookie market and with up to 8 years post PhD experience at an academic or policy institution. We are particularly interested in economists who have research interests in quantitative macroeconomics, including but not limited to macroeconometrics, macro-labor economics, international macro and fiscal and monetary policies. Please note that the Research Department is also searching for two senior research economists and has placed a separate advertisement for those positions.

Qualified candidates are required to have a PhD in economics and a track record of publications related to one or more of the above areas that is commensurate with the length of their career. Successful candidates will be expected to conduct independent research that is published in top academic journals, provide in-depth analysis to Bank policy briefings and contribute to the mission of the Bank. Excellent communication skills are required.

The Department maintains an excellent research environment and provides substantial research support. The Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta is the site of the Atlanta Research Data Center which provides restricted access to non-publicly available Census data. The positions require access to confidential supervisory information and/or FOMC information, which is limited to "Protected Individuals" as defined in the U.S. federal immigration law. Protected Individuals include, but are not limited to, U.S. citizens, U.S. nationals, and U.S. permanent residents who either are not yet eligible to apply for naturalization or who have applied for naturalization within the requisite timeframe. Candidates who are not U.S. citizens or U.S. permanent residents may be eligible for the information access required for this position and sponsorship for a work visa, and subsequently for permanent residence, if they sign a declaration of intent to become a U.S. citizen and meet other eligibility requirements. In addition, all candidates must undergo an applicable background check and comply with all applicable information handling rules, and all non-U.S. citizens must sign a declaration of intent to become a U.S. citizen and pursue a path to citizenship.
