Norwegian School of Economics (NHH) in Bergen, Norway, invites applicants for a tenure-track Assistant Professor or Associate Professor position for seven years in Environmental Economics at the Department of Economics.

The department provides a stimulating and dynamic research environment with a strong emphasis on top research. It has 45 faculty members and several strong, internationally renowned research groups in a wide range of fields, including applied econometrics, applied microeconomic theory, behavioural economics, development economics, industrial organisation, labour economics and macroeconomics. The department is particularly devoted to providing a stimulating environment for young faculty.

We are looking for a highly talented economist with a strong background in applied econometrics or applied economic theory. The candidate should have a key research interest in environmental economics broadly defined. Relevant research topics include climate change, pollution, energy, renewable resources, green technologies, political sustainability of green taxes, environmental consequences of international trade, etc. A successful candidate should have a strong publication record and/or highly promising work in the pipeline.

The new hire will be encouraged to develop an individual research agenda and contribute to the department's long-term academic development. We offer financial support for research projects, participation in conferences and shorter research stays. The position will involve a competitive teaching load, which also includes some graduate student supervision and administrative duties. Faculty members at NHH are expected to be good teachers. NHH offers the opportunity to participate in a program for university pedagogy, and candidates hired for tenuretrack positions must take one basic module of the program during the fixed-term period.

To be qualified for the tenure-track position, it should not be more than five years since the PhD degree was achieved. For candidates undertaking the PhD, the expected completion of the PhD thesis should be no later than at the date of the commencement.

The position is based in Bergen, but research travel will be encouraged and there are also opportunties for research stays at collaboration institutions.
