The Econometric Institute at Erasmus University Rotterdam invites applications for two full-time, fixed-term positions (3 years) as Researcher starting in September 2023 (or any mutually agreed upon earlier date). We are particularly interested in candidates with a PhD in the area of econometrics, statistics, data science, machine learning, or operations research.

Applicants should have (or be very near completion of) a PhD by the start date. Candidates should demonstrate excellence in research in one of the aforementioned fields. A successful candidate is expected to work on research projects with one or more faculty members, as well as perform other research-related tasks such as the supervision of students for Bachelor’s and Master’s theses and case studies.

The compensation package is competitive at the European level and includes several secondary benefits. Favorable tax agreements may apply to non-Dutch applicants.

About the Econometric Institute

The Econometric Institute has a long and strong research tradition in econometrics, statistics, data science, and operations research, with 50 faculty members across these areas. Research at the Econometric Institute focuses on developing novel methods in econometrics and operations research, and on applications of such methods in finance, marketing, macroeconomics, transportation and logistics.

The Econometric Institute is part of an active research community within the Erasmus School of Economics (ESE). ESE is one of the largest and most successful economics schools in Europe, offering excellent research facilities to its faculty. The school offers an (international) bachelor and master program in econometrics and operations research, attracting 450 bachelor and 250 new master students per year.

ESE faculty members actively participate in the teaching and research activities of the Tinbergen Institute and the Erasmus Research Institute of Management (ERIM). In addition, there is a close cooperation with other schools of the university such as the Rotterdam School of Management (RSM) via the research institute ERIM.

Application Procedure

Consideration of candidates will begin immediately and will continue until the position is filled. First round interviews will be held online starting February 2023. Candidates who want to be considered for an interview during this period should submit their application before January 9, 2023, via https://econjobmarket.org/positions/9180

The application package should include a cover letter, CV, a (job market) paper, and three letters of reference (or alternatively a list of three names).
