The School of Public Policy in the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, Simon Fraser University, invites applications for full-time tenure-track faculty position specializing in economics at the rank of Assistant Professor. The School of Public Policy is especially interested in researchers working in the fields of environmental and ecological economics, natural resource economics, climate change, and sustainability. Exceptional candidates in other fields of economics may be considered. The position’s expected start date is July 15, 2023.
The ideal candidate will have:
- A PhD in Economics;
- Relevant teaching experience;
- Demonstrated research in environmental and/or natural resource economics that addresses key public policy and societal issues such as (but not limited to) policies to address climate change (mitigation and adaptation), sustainable development, circular economy.
- Demonstrated commitment to decolonization, equity, diversity, and inclusion within academia;
- A strong publication record and outstanding potential for research excellence;
- Evidence of inclusive pedagogy and excellent teaching skills in an interdisciplinary setting;
- The ability to work effectively with colleagues across disciplinary fields in public policy.
The successful candidate will have a PhD or equivalent credential in hand by the appointment start date or shortly thereafter. They will:
- Enhance and expand the research strengths of the School;
- Work with colleagues to support the School’s curriculum in economics;
- Teach undergraduate and graduate courses within the School of Public Policy;
- Participate in service to the School, the University and the broader community;
- Bring experience in public policy engagement and outreach applicable to a professional school of public policy;
- Demonstrate experience with and/or understanding of inclusive teaching and mentoring, and the ability meet the needs of equity-deserving students.
