The Board of Electors to the Janeway Professorship of Financial Economics invite applications for this Professorship from persons whose work falls within the general field of the Professorship to take up appointment on 1 September 2023 or as soon as possible thereafter.

Following a generous donation from Bill and Weslie Janeway, the Faculty of Economics seeks to elect the Janeway Professor of Financial Economics. The new Professorship aligns with the Faculty strategy to engage with global financial and political challenges emerging from the 2007-2008 financial crisis and recession and, of course, the ongoing crisis following the Coronavirus pandemic. The Professorship is intended to bridge the gap between the disciplines of Finance and Economics and to push traditional disciplinary boundaries within the subject. The Professor will be expected to provide inspirational leadership across the Faculty and to build and develop a research agenda in close collaboration with existing Faculty members. Candidates will have an outstanding research record of international stature in all areas of Economics and Finance and the vision, leadership, experience and enthusiasm to build on current strengths in maintaining and developing a leading research presence. They will hold a PhD or equivalent postgraduate qualification.

The Professorship is offered with a linked fellowship at Pembroke College.

Standard professorial duties include teaching and research, examining, supervision and administration. The Professor will be based in Cambridge. A competitive salary will be offered.

Applications, consisting of a letter of application, a statement of current and future research plans, a curriculum vitae and a publications list, along with details of three referees should be made online no later than 11 April 2023.
