The Department of Economics at the University of Bonn, Germany, invites applications for a
Associate professorship (W2) in Macroeconomics (tenure track).
The initial contract runs for five years with the possibility of tenure subject to a positive tenure evaluation.
We are looking for an excellent researcher in the field of macroeconomics. The successful candidate will have begun to establish him-/herself in the field and demonstrated by his/her publications the skill of both applying state-of-the-art modeling of dynamic macroeconomies and of analysing such economies empirically using aggregated and/or disaggregated data.
Within this range, applications from a wide range of fields will be considered on equal footing: monetary economics, business cycles, labor economics, macroeconomic development and sustainability, public economics, household finance, macro-finance, international economics, and applied macro-econometrics.
Particular strengths of the current group of macroeconomists at the University of Bonn lie in the quantitative study of macroeconomics and heterogeneity. Macroeconomics at the University of Bonn builds on a strong departmental tradition in economic theory and econometrics.
We expect the candidate to be committed to teaching and supervising at the Bonn Graduate School of Economics and in the department’s study programs. Teaching at the graduate level is in English. Teaching at the undergraduate level can be conducted in English or German.
The position is full-time. The expected start date is October 1, 2024. Candidates must comply with the general prerequisites acc. to § 36 Higher Education Act of North Rhine Westphalia (Hochschulgesetz des Landes Nordrhein-Westfalen). Candidates must hold a Ph.D. in Economics and are expected to have a track record of high-quality research appropriate to the level of appointment.
