IE University’s School of Politics, Economics, and Global Affairs (SPEGA) invites applications for a tenure-track position in labor economics at the assistant professor level, starting September 1, 2024. The successful candidate will have a PhD in economics by the start date and will demonstrate strong potential for excellence in research and teaching.
The successful candidate will demonstrate capacity to produce publications in top peer-reviewed outlets and show the capacity to engage in policy-relevant work and an overall commitment to institution-building - applying for research grants, participating in affiliated research centers and SPEGA’s academic programs.
We are particularly interested in candidates who work on empirical labor economics topics including health and education policy evaluation, gender economics, demography, family economics and immigration policy. Additionally, SPEGA has a special interest in work that addresses the intersection of technology, society, and sustainability and we welcome applicants whose work focuses on that intersection and how it applies to labor markets. The candidate will also be expected to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in labor economics and related areas.
The SPEGA is part of IE University, located in Madrid and Segovia, Spain, and is a full member of the Association of Professional Schools in International Affairs (APSIA), as well as a full member of the CIVICA European university alliance. We are a fast-growing department of professors committed to world-class academic research and teaching.
We offer a competitive remuneration package, attractive teaching commitments, and an enriching and cosmopolitan work environment in the heart of Madrid. Our working language is English, and both our faculty and student body are highly diverse and international.
