Title: Research Professor and Director, Center for Global Trade Analysis

Principle Duties: As a member of the faculty, this individual will develop an internationally recognized research program in global economic analysis. As Director of the Center for Global Trade Analysis, s/he will provide leadership for the Global Trade Analysis Project (GTAP), a vibrant, global network (www.gtap.agecon.purdue.edu) of more than 28,000 researchers and policy makers conducting state-of-the-art, quantitative analysis of international policy issues. The Director will have the opportunity to serve as the primary point of contact with the GTAP Consortium, comprising 30 of the leading institutions in this field. S/he will leverage these assets to obtain external grant support, publish and supply policy analysis to decision makers. The Director will also have the opportunity to supervise graduate students, as well as leading the team developing the GTAP Data Base and associated models. These analytical tools form the backbone of much of the current global economic analysis of international trade and environmental policies and the Director/Professor will contribute to shaping their development in the future.

Nature of Appointment: This is a non-tenure-track faculty position. The incumbent will have full voting rights on all departmental matters except those involving curriculum and tenure-track faculty promotion and tenure. Performance will be evaluated by the Executive Director of the Center for Global Trade Analysis as well as the Department Head. Reappointment is contingent on funding availability and satisfactory performance.

Qualifications: The successful applicant will hold a Ph.D. in economics, agricultural or environmental economics, and will have substantial research and leadership experience in global economic analysis– including a solid foundation in applied general equilibrium modeling of policy issues and experience working with large-dimensioned, global economic data sets.

Salary and Benefits: Salary is competitive and commensurate with education, training and professional experience, and an excellent fringe benefit package that includes retirement program, medical, and life and disability insurance.

The Center: The Center for Global Trade Analysis, housed in the Department of Agricultural Economics at Purdue University, is the home of the Global Trade Analysis Project (GTAP), a global network of researchers and policy makers conducting quantitative analysis of international policy issues. For more information, visit: https://www.gtap.agecon.purdue.edu/about/center.aspx

The College: The Department is an integral part of the College of Agriculture, one of the world’s leading colleges of agricultural, food, life, and natural resource sciences and ranked number 5 globally in the 2023 QS World University Rankings. The College is deeply committed to the three land-grant missions (teaching, research, and extension), to international activities and perspectives that span all missions, and to excellence in all we do. The College has 11 academic departments and includes 302 faculty, 2823 undergraduate students, and 769 graduate students. The College’s current strategic plan can be accessed at https://ag.purdue.edu/about/strategic-plan.html.
