The Institute of Economics and Econometrics at the Geneva School of Economics and Management, University of Geneva (Switzerland), invites applications for multiple postdoctoral fellowships in economics starting as early as Summer 2026. We are particularly interested in candidates with research interests in the following fields:

The fellowships allow promising new and recent Ph.D. recipients to pursue frontier research and to be active members of the IEE with a very low teaching load. The positions provide a competitive salary plus support for travel and research expenses. Eligible candidates will have completed their Ph.D. after 1 January 2024 and no later than the official starting date of employment. The duration of each postdoctoral fellowship is 1-2 years, discussed on a case-by-case basis.

About the Unit: The University of Chicago Institute for Climate and Sustainable Growth is a groundbreaking effort uniting faculty from across the university to advance society’s understanding of our energy and climate future. The Institute combines faculty insights in energy markets and policy, climate systems engineering, and energy technology to produce world-changing ideas while also

investing in the next generation of energy and climate thinkers, leaders, and innovators through

The Climate Impact Lab (CIL) is a core initiative of the Institute, bringing together leading climate scientists, economists, data engineers, and risk analysts to quantify the impacts of climate change and identify opportunities for adaptation sector-by-sector and community-by-community across the globe.

The Role:

The University of Chicago is seeking a full-time Post-Doctoral Scholar to build and co-lead a portfolio of applied research projects related to climate change impacts and adaptation. The Post-Doctoral Scholar will work closely with the Lab’s Faculty Head of Research, Executive Director, Research Directors, and other post-docs and will collaborate with other faculty members at the University of Chicago, other top universities, as well as government agency partners.

The Scholar will provide intellectual leadership and management for department’s strategic planning and analytical work. This includes producing research articles, contributing to the scientific content of research proposals and supporting research dissemination and policymaker outreach activities.

Research Training:

This Post-Doctoral role offers continued training in preparation for an independent research career. The Scholar will be encouraged to develop collaborative relationships with academic staff/faculty and visitors in the Kenneth C. Griffin Department of Economics, Harris School of Public Policy, the Booth School of Business, and other units around campus.

Responsibilities:

· Develops research ideas and leads design of new research projects

· Engages with government partners to develop project ideas and help ensure successful execution of research projects in the Lab’s current portfolio

· Provides scientific direction and leadership for new and existing projects

· Mentors research staff, and ensures the rigor and quality of research analysis

· Oversees research activities, including data collection and analysis

· Participates in drafting research proposals, funder reports, and presentations

· Co-authors research articles, reports, briefs, and manuscripts

· Presents research findings at meetings and conferences to research and practitioner/policymaker audiences

· Contributes to strategic decisions about new projects and initiatives

Education:

· PhD in economics or related field

Experience:

· Minimum of two years research experience preferred

· Experience working with interdisciplinary research teams and policymaker stakeholders preferred

Competencies:

· Expertise in applied microeconomics methods and all aspects of research design

· Topical expertise in energy and environmental economics, including familiarity with field literature

· Interest in finding and testing innovative solutions to environmental problems

· Proficiency in R, Python, Stata

Candidate Profile

Candidates should have a recognized research activity in machine learning and its applications to finance or in financial modeling based on AI tools. We aim for publications in leading journals across several fields, including machine learning and computer science (e.g., JMLR, JAIR, Pattern Recognition), quantitative finance (Mathematical Finance, Finance and Stochastics), and financial/stochastic modeling (Annals of Applied Probability, Journal of Econometrics, JBES). Terms and conditions

The appointment starts no later than September 1, 2026. Salary is competitive according to qualifications. Teaching duties are significantly reduced compared to French university standards. The incumbent will have access to substantial research funds covering in particular the funding of a doctoral student.

The position is attributed for an initial three-year term (during which teaching duties is reduced by half if the PhD was obtained less than 3 years earlier), renewable for another three years (with full teaching duties) before the tenure evaluation based on publication track record as well as teaching feedback.

LEAP and the Impumelelo Economic Growth Lab invite applications for up to five Postdoctoral Fellowships for outstanding early‑career economists. We welcome proposals in economic history, economic growth and development, political economy, and policy‑relevant applied research with clear implications for South Africa and the wider African continent.

About the hosts

· Impumelelo Economic Growth Lab focuses on generating policy‑relevant research and building capacity to achieve economic success in South Africa. It is part of the Bureau of Economic Research (BER), founded in 1944.

· LEAP is a centre within the Department of Economics. It is dedicated to the quantitative study of African economic and social history, bringing together scholars and students to understand and explain the continent’s long‑run development.

Principal Duties:

The Department of Agricultural Economics is seeking to hire two tenure-track faculty members at Purdue University in Indianapolis. Successful candidates will have the opportunity to shape the academic and research programs offered there.

Each successful candidate is expected to develop a nationally recognized research and teaching program in one of the following areas: agricultural economics; agribusiness management; food business management; or agricultural, environmental, or food policy. The successful candidates are expected to publish in high-impact peer reviewed journals, to mentor graduate students, and to secure external grant funding.

Teaching responsibilities will include undergraduate and graduate courses with a typical course load averaging two courses per year. Potential exists for teaching distance-delivered courses. Example courses the successful candidate may be expected to teach include introductory microeconomics, macroeconomics, agribusiness management, agricultural or environmental policy, or related courses. The specific courses and course load will depend on the candidate and department needs.

The department has a high-profile reputation for engagement with agricultural and food business stakeholders and policymakers to address challenges and opportunities facing Indiana and beyond. As the state’s capital city, the Indianapolis location facilitates such engagement with industry and government stakeholders. Successful candidates will have ample opportunity to actively engage with agricultural and food industry leaders, policymakers, and College of Agriculture stakeholders to enhance their research and teaching profiles. These activities may be enhanced by working with the department’s centers, including the Center for Food and Agricultural Business (CAB) and the Center for Commercial Agriculture (CCA), among numerous others.

Candidates must have a Ph.D. in agricultural economics, business management, managerial economics, applied microeconomics, marketing, or related discipline by employment start date. This is an academic year (9-month) appointment. These positions will be based at Purdue University in Indianapolis.

Your position

The CRESE invites applications for a 12-18 month Postdoctoral Researcher position in Economics. The postdoctoral contract is part of a work package within the project “The Political Economy of Populism”, coordinated by Alexandre Chirat and funded by the French National Research Agency (ANR) for the period October 2025 to October 2028 (Grant ANR-25-CE26-2354).

We are looking for an applied economist with strong quantitative skills (econometrics, MCA, LLM), programming experience in R or Python, and a motivation to combine rigorous research with social impact. Alongside their independent research, the recruited candidate will work on the economic policy platforms of populist parties.

The successful candidate will collaborate with Alexandre Chirat (CRESE – Marie and Louis Pasteur University, Besançon), Gilles Ivaldi (Sciences Po Paris), and Emilie Sartre (University of Nottingham) on this project, as well as with research assistants. The project aims for at least one major publications in a top economics journal.

The postdoctoral researcher is expected to have a strong profile to contribute to all aspects of the project, including data collection, text analysis, refinement of the coding scheme, application of econometric techniques, and drafting of the paper. The job is fully devoted to research with no teaching obligations and may involve supervising research assistants. The postdoctoral research associate will be also encouraged to take an active part in the academic life of the CRESE.

About CRESE

CRESE (Center for Research on Economic Strategies) is a French research center created in 1985 and attached to the faculty of Law, Economics, Politics and Management at the Marie and Louis Pasteur University, Besançon.

CRESE conducts a wide range of theoretical and applied research in economics, including political economy, finance, and behavioral decision-making. Since 2017, the center has benefited from its own experimental laboratory, providing a unique environment for empirical and policy-relevant research.

This is an academic year (9-month), Assistant Professor tenure-track position with teaching, research, outreach/engagement and service responsibilities.

Responsibilities:

The Department of Agricultural and Resource Economics is seeking applicants that focus on financial and agricultural commodity market economics. The appointee is expected to establish a competitively funded research program to address critical or emerging issues in financial and agricultural commodity market economics, including, for example, the interdependence of physical and financial agricultural commodity markets; risk analysis of commodity derivatives; financialization of agricultural commodity markets; and global and regional trade of agricultural commodities.

The appointee is expected to establish a competitively funded research program in financial and agricultural commodity market economics. The appointee’s primary teaching responsibilities are likely to include ARE 138 International Commodity & Resource Markets, 139 Futures & Options Markets, and 171 Principles of Finance. Other courses that the appointee may be asked to teach include UG courses in finance (172 and 173), MS level courses in agricultural economics and finance (223, 271), and PhD level courses in empirical methods (202B, 202C), and agricultural economics (231, 232, and 233). In particular, the candidate will be expected to teach in the undergraduate joint business major, managerial economics major, and the graduate program. Teaching responsibilities will be up to four courses per year, taking rank into account and will be set by the department chair based upon departmental needs and the successful candidate’s interests/expertise. Other responsibilities include student advising and training at the graduate and undergraduate levels. Participation in and development of outreach/engagement programs, and performance of departmental and university service is expected.

Qualifications:

Basic Qualification: Ph.D. or equivalent in economics, agricultural economics, or a closely related discipline, including training in and/or knowledge of finance. Demonstrated expertise and research interest in financial and agricultural commodity market economics. This expertise could include (but is not limited to) work on the interdependence of physical and financial agricultural commodity markets; risk analysis of commodity derivatives; financialization of agricultural commodity markets; global and regional trade of agricultural commodities. Evidence of research excellence is expected. The candidate should have the ability to develop and instruct undergraduate and graduate courses and the ability to develop and conduct extramurally funded research.

• Demonstrated expertise and research interest in financial and agricultural commodity market economics.

• Demonstrated or potential ability to develop a distinguished research program that results in publications in high-quality refereed journals.

• Demonstrated ability or potential to develop and instruct undergraduate and graduate courses and to present information to scientific audiences.

• Demonstrated ability or potential and interest to advise undergraduates in the joint business major and managerial economics major.

• Demonstrated ability or potential and interest to mentor M.S. and Ph.D. students in the Agricultural and Resource Economics graduate program.

• Demonstrated ability or potential and interest to work with peers in the department, on campus, and in Cooperative Extension to meet the mission of the University.

Salary:

The salary range for this position is $140,000 - $166,700 (annual). “Off-scale salaries” and other components of pay resulting in a salary that is higher than the published system-wide salary at the designated rank and step, are offered when necessary to meet competitive conditions, qualifications, and experience.

Position Description

Columbia University’s Department of Economics seeks to fill a chair in the Economics of the Middle East, with a joint appointment at the Institute for Israeli and Jewish Studies. We seek scholars in any field of economics with an outstanding publication record and who have ongoing research or engagement with the economics of the Middle East that includes the study of the Israeli economy and economic issues in the region. The Finance Department in the Wisconsin School of Business seeks an Assistant Professor in the field of Finance, Investment, and Banking.

Three Assistant Professorships in Economics

The Department of Economics at the Universitat Rovira i Virgili (Faculty of Economics and Business, Reus, Catalonia, Spain) invites applications for three Assistant Professorships in all fields of Economics.

Note that one of the three offered positions (profile Economic Theory) must be filled by the end of December 2025. Recruitment starts immediately and we will expedite the process to reach a decision.

For the remaining two positions applications can be submitted up to March 2026. However, we encourage to apply as soon as possible as we will also immediately start the process of reviewing and contacting candidates until the positions are filled.

We are looking for outstanding candidates from internationally well-recognized PhD programs. Priority will be given to candidates with at least 1 year of post-doctoral experience.

With respect to teaching responsibilities, the selected candidates are expected to initially teach in the undergraduate program and supervise students’ work. Teaching will be either in Catalan or Spanish, with the possibility of teaching partially in English. To facilitate the candidate’s research activity, teaching load is reduced below regular course work for tenured faculty.

The successful applicants are expected to prove potential for publication in top-ranked journals. Also, the successful candidates should collaborate with the established research groups of the Department in applying for external research funding, and contributing to knowledge exchange and dissemination of research results.

The Department of Economics aims to conduct research in a broad range of areas within Economics and offers undergraduate and graduate programs at the highest level. The Department employs approximately 40 faculty members and 10 PhD students. Our senior faculty members have a well-recognized publication record and are internationally connected. In addition, there is group of junior researchers coming from high-quality PhD programs that have recently joined the Department.

We focus on the recruitment of excellent national and international researchers. Our research and degree programs have a strong international focus. The Department hosts several research centers and external funding of research activities is a top priority.

The Department of Economics at Boston College invites applications for one open-rank, tenure track or tenured faculty position beginning in Fall 2026. We are especially interested in candidates who can provide intellectual leadership in macroeconomics, labor economics, or industrial organization.

The Department of Economics at the University of Toronto Mississauga (UTM) invites applications for a full-time tenure stream position in International Trade. The appointment will be at the rank of Assistant Professor, with an anticipated start date of July 1, 2026.

Candidates must have earned a PhD degree in Economics or a related area by the time of appointment, or shortly thereafter, with a demonstrated record of excellence in research and teaching, specializing in International Trade or a closely related subfield. We seek candidates whose research and teaching interests complement and enhance our existing departmental strengths. Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Econometrics or Statistics (E13 TV-L, 100%, 3+ years)

The postdoctoral research fellow will join the econometrics and statistics group at the Institute of Finance and Statistics.
