CY Cergy Paris Université invites applications for a fully funded three-year Postdoctoral Researcher position at the Thema research center, starting as soon as possible.

The successful candidate will join the HARMONIC project (https://pepr-mobidec.fr/harmonic), an ambitious interdisciplinary research program developing next-generation decision tools for sustainable mobility, freight transport, land use, and climate policy evaluation. The project (and funding of the post-doc position) ends August 31, 2029.

The position offers the opportunity to work with André de Palma and Laurent Gatineau in a highly international and research-active environment (7 research laboratories are involved).

Research Responsibilities

The postdoctoral researcher will contribute to the following tasks:

• Development and calibration of the METROPOLIS2 transport model (https://metropolis2.org/),
• Integration of METROPOLIS2 with EUrbanSim land-use model,
• Construction of synthetic populations (households, individuals, freight vehicles),
• Analysis of congestion, accessibility, and behavioural responses,
• Estimation of local and global CO₂ emissions,
• Policy evaluation of Low Emission Zones, fleet electrification, rail investment, and land-use regulation,
• Preparation of academic publications and conference presentations,
• Coordination with partner research centers in a national research consortium and participation in the annual reports, and to other deliverables (2 other deliverables per year on average).

Applications focus on Île-de-France and Strasbourg metropolitan area.

Qualifications

Applicants must hold a PhD in economics, transportation, urban economics, econometrics, data science, or a related quantitative field, by the starting date.

Preferred qualifications include: strong empirical or modelling skills; Python programming; econometrics/statistics; interest in transport, cities, climate, and/or public policy; ability to work in an interdisciplinary and international team.

The candidate must be fluent in French before the starting day. Interviews will be conducted both in English and French.

The position: The Center for Research in Economics and Statistics (CREST, École Polytechnique, Institut Polytechnique de Paris) is inviting applications for a two-year postdoctoral position in experimental economics, starting between September and December 2026. The position is funded by Incognito Justice, a Horizon Europe project bringing together several leading research institutions and NGOs. The project investigates the consequences of the anonymisation of court decisions on judicial independence through leveraging a diverse methodological toolkit (computational analysis, causal inference, randomised experiments). The candidate will support the development of theoretical models and the coding of online experiments to assess the impact of anonymisation methods. The candidate will work closely with economists at the University of Bonn and indirectly with the whole consortium involved in Incognito Justice. Your profile:

• PhD in Economics.

• Strong quantitative background, expertise in experimental economics and behavioral economics (ideally, including theory).

• Coding proficiency (Python and/or PHP, SQL, Stata or R).

• Fluency in English. Fluency in French is a plus, but it is not required.

We offer:

- Contract type: Fixed-term contract (CDD) of up to 24 months.

- Monthly gross wage starting at €3,400 to €4,400 depending on experience.

The Position

The successful candidate will manage the experimental infrastructure of IPEL (Institut Polytechnique Experimental Lab, https://ipel.crest.fr/public and support a research team conducting projects on experimental economics.

As the Lab Manager, you will be an integral member of the research team. You will oversee the day-to-day operations of the experimental economics lab, manage participant recruitment databases, program online and lab-based experiments, and assist with data curation.

Key Responsibilities

• Experimental Design: Programming, testing, and deploying experimental designs (online and in-lab).
• Data: Managing subject pools, ensuring GDPR compliance and ethics, and maintaining data pipelines.
• Research: Assisting with data analysis and contributing to the technical implementation of research designs.
• Supervising Research Assistants (RAs) on experimental projects and driving the development of lab infrastructure
• Independent Research: This role supports lab research and offers opportunities for project collaboration. To facilitate this, one day per week (or equivalent) is fully dedicated to the holder’s independent research, publications, or personal projects aligned with the lab's themes.

Your Profile

• Data Analysis: Proficiency in statistical software (Stata, R, or Python).
• Languages: Fluency in English. Fluency in French is a strong plus for coordinating with local participant pools and administrative staff, but it is not strictly required.

Location

Most of the work is expected to be conducted at CREST, in Palaiseau (Greater Paris area). While hybrid/remote work is feasible on selected days, the position requires a regular physical presence to manage laboratory operations.
