The Econometric Institute at Erasmus University Rotterdam invites applications for multiple full-time tenure-track faculty positions at the Assistant Professor level starting in September 2024. We are particularly interested in candidates with expertise in one of the following areas:

• Financial econometrics

• Machine learning

• Computational statistics

• (Bayesian) Econometrics with applications in marketing

Applicants should have (or be very near completion of) a PhD by the start date. Candidates should demonstrate excellence in research and teaching and a commitment to university service.

The compensation package is competitive at the European level and includes several secondary benefits. Favorable tax agreements may apply to non-Dutch applicants.

The school offers the possibility for early-tenure (after 3 years) and a starter grant to fund a PhD student.

About the Econometric Institute

The Econometric Institute has a long and strong research tradition in econometrics, statistics, data science, and operations research, with 50+ faculty members across these areas. Research at the Econometric Institute focuses on developing novel methods in econometrics and operations research, and on applications of such methods in finance, marketing, macroeconomics, transportation and logistics.

The Econometric Institute is part of an active research community within Erasmus School of Economics (ESE). ESE is one of the largest and most successful economics schools in Europe, offering excellent research facilities to its faculty. The school offers an (international) bachelor and master program in econometrics and operations research, attracting 450 bachelor and 250 new master students per year.

ESE faculty members actively participate in the teaching and research activities of the Tinbergen Institute and the Erasmus Research Institute of Management (ERIM). In addition, there is a close cooperation with other schools of the university such as the Rotterdam School of Management (RSM) via the research institute ERIM.

Consideration of candidates will begin immediately and will continue until the positions are filled. First round interviews will be held online on December 11-14, 2023 (in line with the calendar of the European Job Market for Economists).
