The Department of Economics at the University of Toronto St. George campus invites applications for a two-year contractually limited-term appointment in Economics at the rank of Assistant Professor, Teaching Stream beginning on July 1, 2020 and ending on June 30, 2022.

 

Candidates must have earned a PhD in Economics by the time of appointment, or soon thereafter. Candidates must have a demonstrated record of excellence in teaching with teaching expertise in a degree granting program, including lecture preparation and delivery, curriculum development, and development of course material. Additionally, candidates must possess a demonstrated commitment to excellent pedagogical practices and a demonstrated interest in teaching-related scholarly activities.

 

We seek candidates whose teaching interests complement and strengthen our existing departmental strengths and who are enthusiastic and innovative individuals pursuing an award-winning career in university teaching, with both the demonstrated ability and ambition to enhance the domestic and international reputation of our undergraduate programs.

 

The successful candidate must present clear evidence of an outstanding teaching record; good judgement and a reflective approach to teaching innovation; and the demonstrated capacity to expertly incorporate current research from at least two sub-fields within economics into our undergraduate courses.

 

The successful candidate must have a demonstrated capacity to adeptly teach large-enrollment introductory and intermediate economics sequences, as well as undergraduate field courses in the candidate’s research areas, and possess excellent expository, organizational, and interpersonal skills.

 

Evidence of excellence in teaching and pedagogical inquiry can be demonstrated through awards and accolades, presentations at significant conferences, a creative and coherent teaching dossier submitted as part of the application that highlights teaching accomplishments, including a strong teaching statement, sample syllabi, course materials, and teaching evaluations and any professional experience that may enhance teaching, as well as strong letters of reference from referees of high standing.

 

Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
